Elena coffee (tray) table

Refined Danish design in teak and bronze: practical coffee tables with a removable tray top, designed to nest effortlessly.

The new ELENA coffee tables from Traditional Teak were created around one simple principle: a coffee table should not only complement a lounge setting, but also be practical in everyday use. The round teak base provides a solid foundation, while the powder-coated top in the warm Bronze colour can be removed and used as a serving tray.

With three diameters and two different heights, the collection offers plenty of flexibility. Use the largest Elena as a central coffee table, place the compact version beside a lounge chair, or combine more sizes to create a layered table arrangement. The round tabletops and slender teak legs give the collection a calm, organic character that pairs easily with a wide range of lounge furniture.

Product information

The Elena is available in three sizes: Large Ø 103 cm, Medium Ø 66 cm and Small Ø 49 cm. The Large and Small versions are 42 cm high, while the Medium is deliberately lower at 36 cm. This allows the tables to be used individually or combined as a group at different heights.

Each size has its own practical role. The Large offers generous table space beside a lounge set, the Small works well as a side table next to a lounge chair or bench, and the lower Medium can be positioned partially underneath the Large or Small table but also as standalone coffee table. Together, they create a flexible table arrangement that can easily be adapted to the available space and the way you use it.

The round tabletop is removable and can be used as a serving tray. Drinks or snacks can be prepared indoors on the tray, which can then be carried outside and placed directly onto the teak base. After use, it can just as easily be lifted off again and taken back inside.

When several Elena tables are used together, they provide additional surface space at different levels. When more open space is needed, the tables can simply be separated and used individually. Rather than committing to one fixed arrangement, you get a series of tables that can adapt to different situations.

Features – Elena Coffee (Tray) Table

The Elena combines a solid teak base with a round powder-coated aluminium tabletop. The slender, rounded teak legs provide a stable and natural foundation while maintaining an open and lightweight appearance.

The tabletop is finished with a powder coating in the warm Bronze colour. This gives the aluminium an even finish and protects it during normal outdoor use. Thanks to the selected construction, the removable tabletop remains relatively light and easy to handle when lifted from the base.

Teak and aluminium were chosen not only for their appearance, but also for their function. The teak provides stability and a warm, natural character, while the removable aluminium top keeps the table practical for everyday use.

The different diameters and heights have been carefully coordinated. This allows the Elena tables to be used separately, partially nested or combined as a group without making the arrangement feel heavy or bulky.

Durability and materials

The Elena coffee tables are made from a carefully selected combination of high-quality materials suited to outdoor use. The base is made from solid teak, a timber known for its natural durability, strength and characteristic silver-grey patina as it weathers over time.

The tabletop is made from strong, powder-coated aluminium in a warm Bronze colour. The powder-coated finish helps protect the surface during normal outdoor use while keeping the tray relatively light and easy to handle.

Designer – Christian Skrydstrup Nørgaard

The Elena Coffee (Tray) Table is based on a design by Danish designer Christian Skrydstrup Nørgaard. Its round shape, slender teak legs and refined metal tabletop give the table a restrained and recognisably Scandinavian character.

The design is defined by a balance of simplicity, functionality and material use. There are no unnecessary details; instead, the proportions and construction are carefully considered so that each element has a clear purpose.

This simplicity is an important part of the Elena’s character. It is not a table designed to dominate a setting, but one that expresses quality through its proportions, materials and finish, whether used on its own or together with other Elena tables.

Combining the Elena Coffee (Tray) Table

Thanks to their round form, teak base and warm Bronze colour, the Elena tables combine easily with a variety of Traditional Teak lounge sets, benches and, in the case of the Small version, relax chairs.

Choose one size as a standalone coffee table or side table, or combine two or three sizes when you want additional surface space and variation in height. This makes it easy to adapt the arrangement to both the available space and the way the tables are being used.

Materials and quality

In the Elena design, teak and aluminium each serve a clear purpose. The solid teak forms the stable base of the table and gives the rounded legs their warm, natural appearance. Teak is naturally well suited to outdoor use and can be left untreated.

Aluminium was chosen for the removable tabletop because it combines strength with relatively low weight, making the tray easy to lift and move. The Bronze powder coating provides an even finish and protects the aluminium during normal use.

The combination of solid teak and powder-coated aluminium gives the Elena a stable foundation while retaining the practical lightness required for the removable tray. Its quality is therefore expressed not only in the way the table looks, but also in the way it functions in everyday use.

Care – Elena Coffee (Tray) Table

Teak can be left untreated outdoors. When exposed to sunlight and weather, its warm natural colour gradually develops into a silver-grey patina.

If you would like to clean the teak, restore its original colour or preserve the warm teak tone for longer, you can use the care products from Traditional Teak:

Teak Cleaner and Brightener 1 & 2
For cleaning dirty or weathered teak and restoring its original warm teak colour.

Teak Sealer 3
For those who want to preserve the warm teak colour for longer and slow down the natural greying process.

Teak PatinaShield 4 & 5
For protection against dirt and moisture when the teak is intended to weather naturally to a silver-grey patina.

The powder-coated tabletop can be cleaned with water and a mild detergent under normal conditions. Because the tabletop is removable, it can also be cleaned separately from the teak base.
