The Marcella dining chair – flat rope Linen, designed by Danish designer Povl Eskildsen, is inspired by Scandinavian design and characterised by clean lines and a calm, balanced appearance. The distinctive rounded backrest and armrests are shaped as one continuous, flowing form and transition seamlessly into the slender, rounded legs, giving the chair its refined and timeless look.

In this version, the flat woven rope in the colour Linen creates a softer and more natural appearance than the anthracite version with round rope. The open shape of the backrest feels like a gentle embrace and, combined with the matching seat and back cushions, offers a very comfortable seating experience.

The Marcella dining chair combines beautifully with a variety of tables and looks particularly striking when paired with a boat-shaped Carmen table, where the chair’s rounded lines naturally enhance the organic character of the tabletop.

Thanks to its relatively light weight and the ability to stack the chairs (up to two), the Marcella dining chair is practical in everyday use and easy to store. The chair is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and stands out with its light, natural appearance.

The Marcella dining chair in the flat rope Linen version retains all the qualities of the original design. The combination of solid teak, aluminium and rope creates a strong, durable and at the same time lightweight construction.

The difference lies in the type and colour of the rope. While the anthracite version features round woven rope, this version uses flat woven rope in the colour Linen. This gives the chair a softer, more natural look and makes it particularly suitable for light, contemporary garden settings.

The chair is supplied as standard with a seat and back cushion in a matching colour, providing excellent comfort from the start. Nylon glides under the legs help prevent damage to both the floor and the chair itself.

The Marcella dining chair is part of the Marcella collection. Within the flat rope Linen version, only the dining chair is currently available. The Marcella lounge is exclusively offered in the anthracite version with round rope.

Cushions – Marcella dining chair flat rope

In this version, the Marcella dining chair is supplied with a seat and back cushion in a matching colour that complements the Linen rope. These cushions provide comfortable support and enhance seating comfort, even during longer dinners.

In addition, the cushions are available in a wide selection of high-quality outdoor fabrics from Sunbrella® and Agora®. These fabrics are specially developed for outdoor use and are known for their durability, colour fastness and easy maintenance, allowing the chair to be perfectly matched to the style of your garden or terrace.

Sustainability and materials

The Marcella dining chair – flat rope Linen is made from a high-quality combination of materials: solid teak, flat woven polyethylene rope and powder-coated aluminium. These materials are carefully selected for their strength, durability and suitability for long-term outdoor use.

Teak is well known for its natural weather resistance and long lifespan. The aluminium frame provides stability with a relatively low weight, while the flat rope is strong, shape-retaining and resistant to various weather conditions.

Maintenance – Marcella dining chair flat rope

For the maintenance of the teak elements, we recommend using the Traditional Teak care products. These products are specially developed to clean, protect and preserve the natural appearance of the wood.

Teak Cleaner and Brightener 1 & 2
To clean weathered teak and restore its original warm colour, we recommend Teak Cleaner and Brightener 1 & 2. This product is suitable for periodic maintenance and visibly refreshes the wood.

Teak Sealer 3
If you would like to preserve the warm teak colour for as long as possible, Teak Sealer 3 is an excellent choice. The sealer is easy to apply and provides long-lasting protection against greying.

Teak PatinaShield 4 & 5
Teak PatinaShield is a colourless protective treatment that helps prevent dirt, moisture and food residues from penetrating the teak. This 2-in-1 maintenance product protects the surface while supporting the development of an even, natural silver-grey patina.

Designer – Povl Eskildsen

Povl Eskildsen grew up within the classic Danish furniture tradition and developed a strong interest in design and furniture making at a young age while working in his parents’ furniture factory in Denmark. He later studied architecture at the renowned Aarhus School of Architecture and began his career collaborating with several Danish indoor furniture manufacturers.

He later focused on outdoor furniture design, working with a number of well-known garden furniture brands. His designs introduced a new sense of elegance and comfort to the outdoor furniture industry, particularly in teak outdoor furniture. By bringing the comfort and refinement of Danish indoor furniture to outdoor living, design and seating comfort became key defining elements in the premium segment of outdoor furniture.
